Highbridge Chair and Bowls

Form, Flavor, and the Bronx

For the new Gourmega restaurant by Jon Gray of Ghetto Gastro, TW2M supported the creation of bespoke furniture that reflects the restaurant’s mission: celebrating, reviving, and elevating Bronx culture. Designed by Mariam Issoufou Architects, the custom pieces draw inspiration from the High Bridge, one of the borough’s most iconic landmarks. Its distinctive arch, a symbol of history, resilience, and connection, becomes the defining form of the main dining chairs, echoing the energy and spirit of the surrounding landscape.

Gourmega’s ethos, “The Bronx serves as our home, muse and a driver of global culture,” is woven into every detail. The furniture embraces that narrative through materiality, silhouette, and intention, grounding the dining experience in a sense of place that is both local and global.

Purposeful Craft With a Circular Mindset

In alignment with Gourmega’s focus on meaningful and responsible design, the fabrication process extended beyond the chairs themselves. Offcuts and remnants from the chair production were transformed into one-of-a-kind bowls and serving dishes, ensuring that no material was wasted and that every piece carried the essence of its origin.

TW2M coordinated closely with the design and fabrication teams to ensure that the craft, storytelling, and technical precision behind each element were honored. The result is a collection of furniture and objects that embody Bronx culture: inventive, resourceful, and deeply rooted in community identity.
